THE SKYLARK MALES

An entire male is a lovely addition to any breeding plan, BUT SHOULD NOT be kept as a pet. The main reasons for this are when they are mature, they are a working animal, and if left without a mate will become frustrated. This may lead to them possibly becoming aggressive. Another reason for not keeping them as a pet, is they have a strong odour. This is caused by scent glands located close to their ears. This smell becomes more potent in the autumn months as they use their smell to attract females that are in season. If you are thinking about breeding wih your females, always use a stud goat owned by a recognised breeder. Most herds that have stud males are very accommodating to visiting females, by boarding them if you require.
